TX MAP SERIES

As a California transplant, I married into a family of multiple-generation Texans. They told me, “In Texas, you are either from Texas or wish you were.” I learned to love and identify with the beauty and independence of Texas. In particular, I love central and west Texas where the sky is a background for extended views & incredible light, and more importantly, where people are fiercely independent and deeply proud of their home. These paintings are oil and mixed media, with the background made from Texas maps I inherited from my husband’s sweet grandmother. She loved Texas. I used these vintage historical maps as a base and inspiration to paint images of this great state that I call home.
